Publishing this could make me a criminal!

So it's a new year, a fresh start and you would think we would be full of the joy of new beginnings, but since 00:00am on 1st January 2010 I have picked up a nasty chest infection, my poor old cat died of kidney failure  and if I publish anything blasphemous I am breaking Irish law and may be subject to a €25,000 fine!  So if I were to suggest that I thought that someones religious beliefs are unfounded no matter what the religion I could be fined and have a criminal record.

Jedi is now recognised as a religion in Ireland due to the mass campaign during the last irish census to get it on there for the laugh ( typical Irish)
so if I were to say to someone that the force does not exist and Luke Skywalker was not the son of Darth Vader and they did not restore balance to the force and they took offence well there's me €25,000 worse off ant having to tick the yes box on job applications at the bit where it asks if you have a criminal record. This just demonstrates how ridiculous the whole thing is.

It's no secret that I have a problem believing in other people's invisible friends that have given no legitimate reason for anyone to believe they exist.
Invisible Friend

Surely I should have the right to say that whether someone takes offence to it or not. Laws are there to protect people...not ideas! If religions are all they claim to be they should not need the protection of the state. It infuriates me that in this day and age church and state are still not seperate in modern western countries. Even in the U.S.A they still have "In God we trust" written on their currency which is also covered in masonic symbols as is their capital and their government buildings...we on the other hand have crucifixes bloody everywhere!

Did you know that an Athiest cannnot be president in Ireland? Now if that's not discrimination I don't know what is. This is the Irish Presidential Oath:"In the presence of Almighty God I do solemnly and sincerely promise and declare that I will maintain the Constitution of Ireland and uphold its laws, that I will fulfil my duties faithfully and conscientiously in accordance with the Constitution and the law, and that I will dedicate my abilities to the service and the welfare of the people of Ireland. May God direct and sustain me." G.W. would have had a field day with that one!!

Atheism is not protected under this new law either which means that Mr Dermot Ahern has been the means of establishing not only institutionalised but nationalised discrimination and the Dail has made it law! How can this be justified? Who passed him the brown envelope? Is that what the collections in Catholic churches across the land have been contributing to? I wonder...

So...I will be doing all I can to have this stupid law overturned and for every religious post that I see on facebook, youtube, twitter etc...I will post and have been posting an athiest one. Not as a response but just to show how much religious stuff gets posted. I haven't a problem with this...but I find it interesting how many people have a problem with mine. hypocritical? I'm not going to say...

If you agree with the points of view expressed in this blog please lend your support to Freedom of Speech in Ireland or Athiest Ireland.(depending on what you believe)  I think we all at the very least believe in Freedom of Speech.
